Went to the range today and pu about 76 rounds through it with no issues at all! I love the feel of the gun overal and will be doing some mods in the upcoming future.
I would say that it shoots pretty precise as the groupings were relatively consistent, but the accuracy is about 3 inches high. This seems to be a common occurrence with these guns and I believe the can be remedied with new sights.
DA trigger is extremely hard which is no secret so I’ll be looking to lighten it.
i believe my shopping list in the near future will include:
Overall I think I can claim success. As previously told by another individual the barrels are pretty much precisely the same with the exception of the actual barrel length. All measurements within 1000 of an inch. Initially I thought I’d have to cut the barrel or do some filing to get it in but with a very little bit o coercing it went in. May still do some minor mods to make it stop in a bit easier but overall this hurdle is pretty much crossed.
Yes, if you could take measurements of your c100 barrel that would be great.
I’m thinking I need the following: Total length from tip of muzzle to back of hood Length from front of lock to back of hood Thickness of lock Thickness of groove Length of the hood Barrel OD Width of hood Width of lower locking lug and ramp
Sorry to be so specific but it’s so easy to think your comparing the same dimension But actually aren’t.
Ok so I heard back from the gentleman on the other forum. And what I’ve come up with is this. The barrel on the P100 is longer than the stingray. I think the discrepancy is all in how they measure the barrel length. If you measure from the ramp to the muzzle the stingray is 3.75”, however if you measure from the top of the hood to the muzzle it’s 3.5” whereas the P100 is 3.7” for this dimension. So we’re talking about a 1/4” in barrel length difference.
He did say the hood dimensions are all within 3 thousandths of an inch which is very close. He could not slide the barrel into the slide though cause he said it was too long.
If the barrel is too long how do people install threaded barrels into slides? Do they remove the bushing?
So while the information has me better off than I started it still a bit of a gamble. I could buy the Tristar replacement for a bit over $100, try to figure a way to get it to slide in as is, or have a Smith cut it to size to drop in. But that assumes the 3 thousandths of an inch isn’t a problem. Or I can try to sell the thing for parts which is a challenge given there aren’t many people looking to buy a broken stingray.
I’ve been looking at other options too such as cz p01 barrels as those are plentiful. Crazy, or maybe it isn’t, but nobody seems really interested in seeing if the dimensions match up. At the same time they can’t tell me definitively that it won’t work. I called czcustoms and while they were somewhat helpful they didn’t seem really interested to me. I mean if the dimensions look very similar I’m gonna buy a barrel from you. But I’m not gonna buy one simply cause it looks similar and is the same length. What’s the apprehension or lack of interest about? Liability?
May have hit the lottery. For my barrel issue that is. Ran across a P100 owner on another forum who’s brother happens to own a stingray and they are going shooting this weekend! He’s gonna spec out both barrels for me and if they are close he’ll even swap them and shoot the p100 barrel in the stingray. Fingers crossed. Hopefully this works the. I need to find a good samaratin to “loan” me thier serial number to place an order with Tristar.
Well just got off the phone with Century and Tristar.
When talking to Century they said the same thing stated in the email try Tristar. Although they imported the gun originally, they don’t support that line anymore and can’t justify importing a single barrel.
When talking to Tristar they said for liability reasons they need a Tristar serial number to sell a barrel. Additionally they said the barrel for the p100 is different than the stingray. Not totally sure if I believe that or if he’s covering his a$$ for liability purposes. I mean even if the thing was close enough that I could get a gunsmith to modify it that would be ok with me. I’m just gunshy on dropping the funds for a cool tristar paperweight.
Well. At the end of the day I think the answer is clear, if you have a Canik from CAI that they no longer import, they also no longer support them. Nor does Tristar for that matter.
I’m gonna keep trying and will report back if I find any solutions. Also if anyone is able to test a p100 barrel, or any other for that matter, in a stingray, let me know!
My biggest concern if the two barrels are milled the same in terms of fit. After talking to a local dealer, who is a big fan of Caniks and does some nice work on them, as well as talking to somebody at CGW, neither of them had any confidence that there is an interchangeable replacement. I’m not saying I doubt there is, it’s just that I would think that two knowledgeable separate people, who are dealers/ in the business, would show interest in determining if there are interchangeable parts as knowing this could give them a bit of an advantage in servicing this line of guns.
Am I missing something as to why they aren’t more “interested” in solving this problem?
Would it be inappropriate to ask my local guy if he has a c100 and if he’d be willing to try dropping that barrel into my gun?
The correspondence I received from Tristar initially was:
We do not supply parts for the Canik Stingray. Century Arms is the importer, if they will not supply parts for their guns, I am not sure where to tell you to look.

Message Body: Hi,
I was referred to you by Century Arms. I’m looking for a compatible replacement barrel for a Canik 55 Stingray. Would you be able to get one of these from the mfg or direct me to a compatible replacement?
Yes and unfortunately I got nowhere contacting Century either. Their email to me after asking for replacement parts was as follows:
Robert Pittman (Century Arms) Nov 29, 13:35 EST
No sir we aren't going to import parts to a firearm we do not carry. I would suggest trying

Thanks for the response Robert. Unfortunately Tristan wasn’t much help. Can you guys not get parts from Canik even though you no longer import them? Is there I contact that I could possibly purchase the replacement direct?

I am looking for a replacement barrel for my CAI Canik 55 stingray. Is this part available and if so where can I acquire one? If one is not available directly, are there any suitably interchangeable ones you can recommend?
Thanks for the recommendation mccanik! The up side is that tristar does have replacements for the p100 but the down side is that I need a serial number to provide to them to order one. I highly doubt they’ll accept my serial number given they didn’t import it.
Also still not 100% sure it’ll be an exact match. Any chance anybody is relatively close to Lehigh Valley that has a p100 that we could compare barrels?
From there if have to find someone willing to provide their serial number for me to order it. Not sure what the risk would be for someone doing that if there is any, but I’m not sure anyone would be quick to jump to the table to offer one. Any takers? 😁
Hey all, I’m new to the forums as I just picked up a used Canik stingray-c. Unfortunately it needs a new barrel and since Century no longer imports these, they don’t support them either in terms of parts. Any idea where I can source a new barrel for this gun? Are there any interchangeable or close cz parts that can be modified to fit?
